The Path to Paradise was the first survey and major scholarly assessment of groundbreaking glass artist Judith Schaechter. The typeface and graphic identity was custom designed based off of small glass elements found throughout several of Schaechter’s work. The imagery used is solely floral, and the overlay of the patterns suggest a leafy paradise. The color choice was meant to not overpower the works themselves.

Pattern detail - the pattern was hand-laid and no one section repeated itself.

The ground plan and layout of the walls guided visitors in a certain direction, telling the linear story of the artist’s career. The opening in the center of the gallery served as an interactive family friendly space, where patrons could browse Schaechter’s sketchbooks and try their hand at making their own patterns.
